About this event

The Toubkal Circuit is Morocco's premier high-altitude trek, a demanding loop through the High Atlas that summits Jbel Toubkal (4,167m), North Africa's highest peak. Over seven days we travel from Marrakech into the mountains above Imlil, then trek a multi-valley circuit through Berber villages, high passes and remote refuges before the summit push. Expect long days at altitude, rocky terrain, and the possibility of lingering snow on the upper slopes in mid-May. This is a challenging mountain journey suited to fit, experienced hikers comfortable with sustained ascent and nights in mountain huts.

Safety

  • ALTITUDE: This trek reaches 4,167m
  • Acclimatisation days are built in, but altitude affects everyone differently - hydrate, pace steadily, and report symptoms early
  • SNOW: Mid-May can leave residual snow on the summit cone; conditions are assessed on site and crampons/ice axe may be required in a heavy-snow year
  • WEATHER: High Atlas weather changes fast; be prepared for heat on the approach and cold at altitude
  • INSURANCE: Comprehensive travel and mountain insurance covering trekking to 4,200m is mandatory
  • FITNESS: Sustained multi-day ascent on rocky terrain - participants must be fit and hill-experienced
