The Hump Ridge Track is New Zealand’s newest Great Walk and one of the most dramatic — 61km through Fiordland’s southern wilderness, crossing the historic Percy Burn Viaduct and climbing to ridge tops with views stretching to Stewart Island. We’re doing it in February 2027 and huts are already booked.
This is a difficulty 4–5 event. Three days, two nights in the outstanding Hump Ridge Lodge huts — the best-appointed huts on any Great Walk in New Zealand. February is prime season but this track is remote and exposed — fitness and experience are non-negotiable.
We currently have 6 members attending with 9 spots remaining before we hit the 15-person maximum. Huts are already booked — contact me directly if you want to join before spots fill.

The Hump Ridge is the least known of our four February events but arguably the most spectacular. Has anyone done it since it became a Great Walk? I’d love to hear your experience.
